Preparing ahead for Higher Education Abroad: Things You Need to Know

Over the past decade, a steady stream of Indian students has been opting for Higher Education abroad. The experiences of International students forming a thriving Indian Diaspora in countries like USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Britain have motivated post-secondary students from India to opt for higher studies in these countries.
However, as the attraction of these countries to provide better, modern and practical education along with opportunities to settle permanently in these countries has increased over the years, so has the competition to study there. The Visa offices of respective countries are also having their hands full in processing Visa applications, especially for the September Intakes. Therefore, if you are planning to go for higher education in any of the above countries, you would need to prepare much in advance and be prepared for the admission and Visa requirements beforehand.
Keep few things in mind before opts for higher education.
Firstly, the choice of program of study should be made at least a year in advance and accordingly the English language test to meet the English proficiency requirement should be taken. Some Universities/ Colleges accept early admissions starting in the month of November of the previous year for the September intakes which also is a major and sometimes the only intake for top Universities. For Australia and New Zealand, the major intakes are February and July and now quite a few schools have more intakes as well. The North American and European countries usually have the Fall and Winter Intakes falling in September and January as the major intakes with May as another intake for a few schools.
Besides choosing your program of study well in advance, it is also pertinent to look at the prospects of the program, the cost of study, the cost of living and the law and order situation of the country before a final decision is taken. The visa officer would in order to make an informed decision on your Visa application would need a statement of interest laying down your plans with respect to your choice of study, the funds available and how the study would help you in your career or further studies. Passing the scrutiny of the Visa officer takes some efforts as the Visa officer mostly has the student’s documents and letter of intent to decide in favour of granting the Study Permit. Therefore, a well laid down letter of intent clarifying the background of the student, previous studies, prospects of the educational program chosen abroad in the home country and the finances available should be penned down in a lucid manner to secure a study permit. Also proof of past education, English language tests, and finances need to be attached with the application.
We at Future Perfect Education (FPE) help the student to not only prepare for the English Language test but also advise the student in the program of choice and help students choose the best to their advantage such that they are successful both in securing a place in an educational institute as well as a study permit.
